*The state of New Mexico requires that any driver under the age of 21 be certified on off-road vehicles. You can do this at www.b4uride.com. If they have taken a safety class in another state on ATV’s, watercraft etc. that certification is valid in New Mexico.

Snowshoeing in Red River

For any outdoor explorer, hiking is a great way to see the area and learn about the wildlife. But that doesn’t have to stop when the grounds are covered in snow, just throw on some snowshoes and let your adventure begin. The Enchanted Forest Cross Country Ski & Snowshoe Area offers 15 km of trails devoted to snowshoes as well as equipment rentals.

Snow Tubing in Red River

Snow tubing is family fun for all ages. Tubing requires no previous experience, just hop on and enjoy. Red River Ski & Summer Area offers snow tubing sessions, each session is one hour and are on a first come first serve basis. Snow Play

There’s no right or wrong way to have fun in the snow, just go out there and let your imagination run wild. Not sure where to start? We have a few ideas that’ll have you enjoying the snow in no time. Try sledding, make snow angels, build a snowman, or start a snowball fight.

Sledding in Red River

Anything slippery will do, but you can pick up a commercial sled at a number of local shops. There are a few areas you can safely sled for free in Red River. The area next to St. Edwin’s Catholic Church (near High Street & Silver Belle Trail),  Mallet Park (north of High Street & Mallette Road), the free snow play area across from the Playhouse (base of Red River Ski Area), and the area across from the public library (look for the hiking access sign and cross the bridge by foot).

One thing to remember before you hop on a snow tube or snow sled is to make sure you know how to stop at the end of the hill. Snow can be slippery and unpredictable, and there’s nothing like a collision to ruin your fun.

Snow Angels

Find a clear spot, lay down and start moving your arms and legs. Hop up and enjoy the site of your snow angel. I personally like taking a picture and sharing it on Facebook. Be sure to tag Reservations Unlimited.
